Somehow this month is half over, and I’ve been confused all week about what day it is – anyone else?
I’ve also been a little overwhelmed. After years of spending 99% of my time and energy focusing on my health when it comes to CF, I finally decided it was time to see a primary care doctor to get all sorts of things checked out. This has meant lots of bloodwork and lots of follow up appointments. No answers yet, but I’m hopeful I can start to figure out some things I’ve been long neglecting. It can be really easy to getting used to feeling a certain way until you realize you might actually be able to feel better. I also had a CF clinic appointment last week and my lung function dipped a bit; nothing that my doc is concerned about but we decided to put me on an oral antibiotic (for the first time in over four years, a record! Thanks, Trikafta!) to see if that helps kick it back up a bit. So I’ve felt very consumed by health things and tracking symptoms for these past few weeks. It’s brought up a lot of feelings about CF and my health in general, along with aging (something I didn’t think a lot about before Trikafta) and it’s just been a lot.
Thankfully it’s been a pretty restful weekend and I’m feeling almost ready for a new week. Anything you’re looking forward to or excited about?
Reading
🎧 Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed (narrated by Cheryl Strayed) – This is a reread for me (I’ve read it in print at least two other times) but wanted to listen to the 10th anniversary edition before watching the show. If you haven’t read this, DO IT. It might be my absolute favorite book of all time.
📖 Miracle Creek by Angie Kim – I’m still reading this one 🫠 It has nothing to do with the book and everything to do with my inability to focus on print. (And also maybe the fact that I spent the last couple weeks devouring “Nashville”.)
It’s Poetry Month! And I have a fun offer for you. I’m a HUGE Mary Oliver fan and was really excited to find out that Pushkin Industries recently released a special audiobook of selected works, narrated by another favorite of mine: Sophia Bush! The folks at Pushkin were kind enough to offer my audience 20% off of the audiobook – just head on over and put in the code WPRWK2023. Once purchased, it’s super simple to add to your podcast player of choice (I use Overcast and it was super simple to upload). I can’t wait to start listening!
Watching
“Grey’s Anatomy” – I hadn’t watched in a few weeks and got caught up these past few days. But I’m not sure how much longer I’ll keep watching, considering how many of the longstanding characters are gone. Are any of you still watching? What do you think?
I finished my rewatch of “Nashville” (and sobbed) so now I’m figuring out what my next rewatch will be. I’d remembered not loving the last season of “Nashville” but this time around it might actually have been my favorite? If you haven’t watched, and you’re a fan of shows like “Parenthood” and “Friday Night Lights”, give it a try.
Listening
Songs from “Nashville” (one of which is on the playlist I’ll share at the end of the month).
Loving
Fruit roll ups – I know, I’m kind of ashamed. But after finally trying the Tik Tok trend of wrapping one around a little bit of vanilla ice cream (the fruit roll up freezes and becomes crunchy), I’ve become obsessed. So much so that I bought a box of 75 🫠
My ice roller – This thing is such a life saver. Whether I have sinus pressure, a headache, or just feel a little puffy, rolling this over my face helps so much.
Have a great Sunday!
A reminder for the week: It is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in the broken world. – Mary Oliver
I knew y’all are my people! In last week’s poll, over 50% of you said fall is your favorite season, with summer in second at just over 20% (sorry, but y’all are not my people 😉).

Yours is one of my favorite newsletters, Kat. Thank you!
I just can’t quit Greys. I still love the storylines and all the new batches of characters.
