I aim to send these out on Sunday evening, but I spent almost all of yesterday in bed with a migraine and wasn’t able to finish it up. So, Monday it is!
Before the migraine knocked me out, we had a really good Saturday. We spent the morning honoring our friend Adam who passed away in November, which was a lovely tribute. And Saturday night we had dinner at my mother in law’s – something we hadn’t done in a very long time – and it was so good to finally catch up.
How was your weekend?

🎧 How to Fake It in Hollywood by Ava Wilder – I listened to this in about 24 hours and while it wasn’t my favorite romance, it was very enjoyable with themes that went a little deeper (something I appreciate in a good romance novel). The narrators – Thérèse Plummer and Andrew Eiden – were great, and the celebrity aspect was really fun. It reminded me of The View Was Exhausting but with a different tone/vibe. If you haven’t tried audiobooks or don’t have an audiobook subscription, Libro.fm is my favorite way to listen to audiobooks, and my favorite audiobook company to support. Your purchase supports an indie bookstore of your choosing, and you can pause or cancel at anytime. Use my code (KATHARINE) or this link and get TWO audiobook credits for the price of one.
My print reading is still a struggle, and I really want to find a way to get back to it. While I’m not a morning person,
has inspired me to try getting up just 30 minutes earlier than usual and dedicate it to a book. Any tips for getting your groove back when it comes to reading print?Watching
I was needing a new show I could put on that didn’t require a ton of my attention, and “A Million Little Things” had been doing the trick! If you like “Parenthood” or “This Is Us”, you might like this (although it’s definitely not as good as those). Anything you’ve been watching and loving?
Mike and I are also finally caught up on “Jeopardy”! A couple nights a week we watch an episode or two together while eating dinner. We play along, but our only rule is you can’t shout your answer until they’re finished reading the clue. Also, #TeamKen.
Listening
We Can Do Hard Things: How to Fix Our Loneliness. I’ve had Platonic by Dr. Marisa G. Francositting on my shelf for a few months and this podcast episode bumped it to the top of my list.
The episode of The Ezra Klein Show with Dan Savage was fascinating, and eye opening. I used to listen to Savage Lovecast years ago, and this makes me want to start listening again.
Loving
When I was a kid, the cafe at my mom’s acupuncture school sold steamed milk with a syrup of your choice (mine is hazelnut), and it was my favorite. Even in adulthood that was my go-to cozy drink when I didn’t want coffee. I’ve been making them at home instead of tea, and it’s the perfect end-of-day treat.
I’m starting to go back into the office one day a month, and am reminded of how much I love my Dagne Dover backpack. It’s durable, stylish, and fits everything I need. (I still feel like a college student wearing it, but that might never change.)

So glad you're able to start doing things you used to enjoy. It can be a slow process, but you're clearly doing it thoughtfully. As for Dan Savage, there's a great interview with him on the Randy Rainbow podcast!
