Happy Friday Eve! It’s the middle of spooky season and I’m trying to soak up as much of it as I can. I just finished up The Family Remains on audio (and I have… thoughts – I’ll share them in my October Roundup at the end of the month), am going to start The Secret Society of Irregular Witches , and am about to crack open The Book of Magic in print. What are you reading this week? Anything you’ve read and loved recently?
To receive my October Roundup which includes mini book reviews and other fun things, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
I have FIVE copies of When In Rome, the perfect fall romance that I can’t stop raving about, to give away. I’ll select five random winners from the comments and announce them next week!
Currently reading Funny You Should Ask but it's due back at the library soon so hopefully will finish soon! I think I have Marrying the Ketchups on hold at the library so that might be next!
I FINALLY READ BEARTOWN!!!! Your recent posts and obvious love for the trilogy finally pushed me over the edge to read it and it took me less than 2 days to read and now I'm impatiently waiting for the second book to come in at my library!!! Thank you :)
I'm deep into The Violin Conspiracy and loving it. Next on my TBR is Magic Lessons. I want to read that whole series and Practical Magic wasn't available at the library so I'm going in chronological order! lol
I’m listening to Ugly Love. I’m not a fan of the narrated voices, but I’m going to finish. I’m print reading November 9. Next up, is The Riviera House.
Currently listening to The Butcher and the Wren, a great dual narrator book about a serial killer and the medical examiner who hunts him! Also about to start reading the Secret History
I’m reading The Bullet That Missed, but struggling, as I listened to the first two on audio. This one has a new voice actress whose performance just isn’t the same. Trying to read it with the original voices in my head is hard!
I'm listening to Home Sweet Christmas by Susan Mallery and have just started Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match by Sally Thorne in hardback ... two very different vibes, haha
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow in print and This is Not a Book About Benedict Cumberbatch on audio. Hoping to get to Our Missing Hearts this weekend!
I LOVED The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches! I'm currently reading The Temple House Vanishing, which started off kind of slow but it turning into a moody dark gothic that I'm really into. Not sure what I'm going to start next, but thinking about Fever Dream by Samantha Schweblin!
Just finished Small Town, Big Magic. Starting Killers of a Certain Age and listening to The Last Housewife. I’ve got a thriller/witchy TBR for October I’m working through!
I'm currently reading Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson and listening to Lethal White by Robert Galbraith. I just finished The Maidens by Alex Michaelides from my October hopefuls pile (#spookyseason), and it was... underwhelming. A plot with a lot of potential and completely underdeveloped characters. *sigh*
Just finished (and loved) Just Another Love Song, thanks to your recommendation! This week I'm re-reading The Little Book of Hygge, to get in the mood for cozy season.
I'm reading Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory and am about to finish Most Likely Club by Elyssa Friedland!
Oooh these all sound so great! I’m reading The Witches of Moonshyne Manor! It’s billed as Hocus Pocus meets the Golden Girls…and I’m LOVING it!!!
Currently reading Funny You Should Ask but it's due back at the library soon so hopefully will finish soon! I think I have Marrying the Ketchups on hold at the library so that might be next!

Currently listening to The Butcher and the Wren, a great dual narrator book about a serial killer and the medical examiner who hunts him! Also about to start reading the Secret History
I’m listening to Hangsaman by Shirley Jackson! It’s even narrated by Julia Whelan. So far, I’m loving it.
In between books but am planning to start Celeste Ng’s new one later this evening! So excited for it!
I’m reading We Ride Upon Sticks!!
WHOOHOO!!! YAY! Thank you!!

*Thanks for recommending Bear Town, Katharine. It's been on my TBR list for awhile and I really enjoyed it.
I am rereading Mansfield Park. It's not my favorite one by Jane Austen, but I'm enjoying it!

Saints For All Occasions! I’m looking for a spooky read for when I finish my current read up.
I am reading “in my dreams I hold a knife” in print and “on rotation” on audio! Enjoying both so far. Happy reading!!
I’m reading A Woman of Intelligence by Karin Tanabe and I just got Remarkably Bright Creatures from the library which I’m very excited about.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Family Remains! I usually love Lisa Jewell, but that one was a slog for me and put me into a slump.
I am reading Cover Story!
Just finished (and loved) Just Another Love Song, thanks to your recommendation! This week I'm re-reading The Little Book of Hygge, to get in the mood for cozy season.
I’m finally going to start Tomorrow & Tomorrow & Tomorrow today, have no idea why I’ve put it off this long.
